Bruce Kelley's passion for marine photography was sparked when he obtained basic scuba certification in 1991. Though he's had the soul of a still photographer since the early teens, he is not above picking up a video camera when he feels the subject demands it. To him, the ocean realm is such a subject.
Even so, still photography plays a central role in his marine video compilations, and the underwater images on this site are captures from digital video. Topside, he shoots a Canon 1D digital SLR, and beneath the surface a Sony VX2000 Mini DV.
His life offers only occassional opportunities for marine exploration, but nature, school, family and sports events help keep his eyes and reflexes sharp. Volunteer work as an aquarium diver keeps his scuba skills honed and his familiarity with the marine environment current. He is at his best when surrounded by saltwater with a camera in his hand.
